ESOL Community Programmes
Skills for Life Qualifications
These qualifications are available to adult learners in education, the work place, on training schemes, in Adult and Community Learning programmes and in everyday life. They are designed to develop the literacy, numeracy and ICT skills and capabilities that adults who are speakers of languages other than English need to take a full part in at work and in society.
Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life
The certificate in ESOL Skills for Life is designed to enable learners who are speakers of languages other than English to:
Structure of the ESOL Course:
The Certificates in ESOL Skills for Life course is offered at the following levels:
• Entry Levels: 1, 2 and 3
• Level 1
• Level 2
There are three modes available at each level:
• Speaking and Listening
• Reading
• Writing
PROGRESSION
The qualifications will enable candidates to progress either directly to employment or to Foundation Level courses.
Skill for Life: Literacy, Numeracy & ICT (Community Based)

Central Birmingham College is pleased to announce the starting of the 'General English Course' aimed at Communities whose first language is not English. The Course duration is ran over an academic year and is aimed at those wanting to undertake The Skill for Life programme, or to Generally improve there English. Timetables are flexible, which means attendance is down to as little as 15 - 21 hours weekly.
Classes are small which means greater student support. Why not come along to our Community based Skill for Life Programme held at Central Library, West Bromwich and at our main site, The Big Peg, Jewellery Quarters, Birmingham. All welcomed.
Starting in June 2010 - Central Birmingham College Education and Training will be undertaking Women ONLY Classes for our Education in the Community programmes. Please contact the College for further details.
