NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Health and Safety at Work

Aims and Objectives

The award aims to:

enable candidates to improve their current knowledge of health and safety

introduce candidates to the various health and safety UK and European Acts                   and legislation

enable progression to other vocational courses and enhance career prospects

 

The objectives of the award are for candidates to gain an understanding of:

 

the risks and hazards that can exist within the working environment

the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

UK legislation and regulations

European legislation

Target Group

Adult learners who are seeking re-entry to the employment market, but who have insufficient qualifications and/or experience. Learners who wish to access training within the health and safety sector, with a view to progression to further and/or higher programmes of study. Learners currently studying on other vocational programmes who wish to undertake the award as an additional learning aim.

Entry Guidance

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this award. Access to this award is open to all candidates; however, a basic level of numeracy and literacy is

required to use the materials and complete the assessment tasks. Candidates wishing to undertake this award should hold an appropriate Level 1 qualification or equivalent.

Progression Opportunities

Successful candidates interested in taking their learning further are able to progress to one or more qualifications within the National Qualifications Framework. There is a wide range of industry specific NVQs and other vocational qualifications that include aspects of health and safety. For example, learners could progress on to NVQs in Care, Distributive Operations, Distributive and Warehousing, Retails Operations, Cleaning, Food Preparation, Food and

Beverage Service and Sport and Recreation.
