NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Infection Control

Aims

The qualification aims to provide:

- an understanding of the meaning and importance of infection control and the laws that surround it

- an awareness of infection control methods and how infection control is managed in England

- knowledge of what infections are and how they can be caught, spread, fought and prevented

- an awareness of the importance of personal health and hygiene and food hygiene

Target Group

This course is designed for those who wish to develop their knowledge of Infection Control. These may be candidates who wish to access this training with a view to progress to further qualifications, or candidates who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes. It is suitable for candidates wishing to develop knowledge to prepare them for employment or for learners who are already in employment and wish to study the programme as part of their own continuous professional development.

Entry Guidance

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. Access to this qualification is open to all candidates; however, a basic level of numeracy and literacy is required to comply with the Health and Safety and assessment aspects of the qualification. The minimum age for entry is 16. The minimum age for entry into some roles in the health and care sectors would normally be at 18. Candidates aged 16–18 years could therefore undertake the qualification with the intention of pursuing further training/study, which may assist them in entering employment within the sector at age 18.
